Once again it is time to start another WINTER GUARD season. I will try to make the painless to read and understand, but there are many questions to answer. If you have more questions please just let me know, I really just wanted to cover most of the general questions and get something out to you all. Please pass this along to anyone that you think may be interested. We have a pile of new folks interested so this may be more information than you have received in the past.
We will meet on Sunday December 07, 2009 from 9-4. We will meet and go over the schedule and make any adjustments. People keep asking me how hard it is to make Assembly Line, Do you do color guard?Do you have a good attitude? Can you be on time? Can you make all the shows and practices? Can you work hard to improve yourself, and can you pay your dues? If your answers are yes to these questions then you just made the guard. We are more than willing to work with all different levels of experience, you may not do rifle on the main rifle line or be featured in the movement section, but all members are important. Just come and see what it's like!
Dues this season are $325.00. Fifty dollars will be paid at the end of the first Sunday (Dec. 07) if you decide you want a spot held for you in the show. The $275.00 balance due can be paid in regular payments during the season or if you would like to pay in full you save $25.00 and write one check (for the $250.00) before Jan. 1, this gives us the start up money to be used for staff, props, and floor. You are also responsible for the cost of your uniform, shoes, gloves, etc. These funds are used to pay entry fees and memberships for AIA Shows, the WGI Regional, and hotel rooms at championships. Our staff of course and the set design and flags for the season.
We practice in the Raleigh area.
We do have a camp weekend to learn the main bulk of the show. Sunday Practices are longer in the beginning to allow us to be prepared and then you see the hours reduce. On SHOW WEEKENDS, we practice on Friday nights to get ready for the big event and these times are available about 10 days before the show date. On most show days we do not have report time until just before we perform. The exceptions for that are on Feb 14 when we are the host of the WGI REGIONAL at Broughton High School and taking turns selling souvies at the Assembly Line stand on show days. Most SHOW WEEKENDS end on Saturday, with the next day being an off day, there is one exception to that rule this season. But there is a weekend during the season that is completely off. We will go over the schedule together at our first meeting.
